Epipalaeolithic

The Mesolithic or Mesolithic is a transition period between the Paleolithic and Neolithic , developed in BC 10.00 and where the lifestyle is similar to the Paleolithic because they are predators groups still rely on hunting as an economic activity.

Despite them a series of important changes:

  • A progressive limitation occurs in the mobility of the groups, whose territories were becoming increasingly smaller.
  • New forms of intergroup relations are adopted.
  • From the technological point of view they are characterized by microliths , which is a process that tends to play more and more the size of the stone tools.
  • The difficulty of locating material of this period , has limited documentation of archaeological sites this stage , without ruling out the existence of them , especially near the Tagus River and its tributaries.
